Just a quick update this week!
Tuesdays are back! We are allowed to meet at the Station again now, so the regular club meet is back - and if you need an added incentive, this week we are heading for a beer afterwards at the Quorndon Fox in Quorn! We'll be at the Station from around 7pm, so get booked in on their website and we'll see you there!
Thursday - bouldering and rubbish! - This week we are back at Cademan (and the forecast is much better) - come along for a boulder. We will also be heading into Grace Dieu Woods (adjacent and identified by our own BMC local access rep as being in need of some TLC) for a quick crag clean up - bring your own thick gloves, we will have some litter pickers and bags for you to use :-)
This weekend - We are so excited about this bank holiday as there's lots to look forward to! There will be climbing on Saturday - keep an eye on the WhatsApp climbing group for a venue and if you haven't already signed up to the WhatsApp give me a shout with your number and I will add you in. Then on Sunday 30 May there will be the eagerly anticipated Chairman's Walk - there is a good crowd going and Mr Potter has some excellent adventures planned, so we look forward to seeing you there! Watch this space for details of where and when to meet and what the route is!!
Exciting Hut news!! - although we still can't have more than one household staying at the hut, guidance has been relaxed to say that we only need to leave 48 hours between bookings. This means that you can extend your stay if you wish, to arrive after midday on a Thursday, and depart before midday on the following Tuesday. Sadly, we still can't open for multiple occupancy or allow mid week stays as yet, but as soon as this becomes possible we will.
Finally, just a reminder about our Burbage meet on 6th June - come along and join us for a fun day that is open to all levels of experience and both members and non members. There will be bouldering and roped climbing and the meet is also family friendly so bring the kids along and get them started on the children's bouldering circuit at Burbage North! We'll have a beer afterwards as well.
Well that was a bit of a wet one! Not sure there is much to report in terms of the week's activities - good use was made of the Climbing Station in Loughborough and other members made a quick dash out to Cademan to bag some routes. The rest of us drank a lot of tea!

This meet really caters to everyone with its location (right underneath Stanage) and what’s on offer in the vicinity. At only £7.50 a night what are you waiting for? 30th May - The Chairman’s Walk is less than a month away and it really isn’t one to miss. Thinking slightly ahead there are also the two meets in the Lake District: 13-15th August - the Coniston Coppermines MTB meet is starting to fill up with 13 booked on so far. There are XXXXX spaces, and at XXXX per night for accomodation in a truly amazing hut, with mountain biking, climbing and walking right from the doorstep, it would be a shame to miss out! 27-30th August - Bank Holiday!!! We are booked into the Bowderstone Hut, with some fantastic climbing right on the doorstep. There are 11 spaces left and at £25 per head for the entire weekend this is a bargainous trip! With the exception of the Chairman's Walk, your space will only be confirmed on the above meets when you hand over hard cash, so here are the bank details to help you do that. Despite the slightly dodgy weather, a good weekend seems to have been had all round, with a speedy decision to pick a dry spell and grab a session at Bamford Edge by some, some indoor route resets in the Attic of Pain, and good use being made of Redpoint and Warwick climbing walls, as well as, of course, the Station. Head over to Facebook or Instagram to check out some photos of member's adventures and don't forget to like and follow - both accounts are really helping to spread the name of the Bowline and our followers are growing, particularly with Instagram! Also don't forget that we have a really active Whatsapp group for climbing trips if you are looking to share an adventure - if you aren't already signed up, drop me a message on 07376 629180 and I'll add you in (we have one for mountain biking, too!).
TUESDAY'S ARE BACK!!! With the easing of restrictions from tomorrow, we can now socialise on our regular Tuesday night meet at The Climbing Station! People are already booked in from around 19.00 - grab a slot and come see us! This will now be a regular weekly meet for us :-)

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! - we are organising a crag litter pick at three areas which have been identified by Andy Harper (local BMC access rep) as being in need of some TLC. The dates will be Thursday 27 May (Grace Dieu Woods) and 10 June (Markfield and Craig Buddon), and we will aim to climb locally on both occasions, as well as go for a well earned pint afterwards.
