Hey folks,

I know some of you are super keen for all the details on the coppermines meet.

They can all be found in the 'Events' section on the website.

Hello everyone!

We hope you all had a great weekend, it certainly seemed like there was plenty going on, judging by the always active club WhatsApp climbing group! Congratulations to Silas and Andy H for their ascent of Original Route at High Tor, check out some great photos over on the club Instagram/Facebook accounts.

This week's adventures:

Tuesday - Check out the WhatsApp messages for today's plan Thursday - If you fancy getting out this Thursday, drop a message in the WhatsApp climbing group Saturday 26 June - Climbing, walking, biking....it's still up to you, but join us afterwards for our Summer PICNIC at Stanage Pop. Bring your own food, drink and smiles - we'll be there from 17.30 onwards and probably will find a pub afterwards! This probably doesn't need saying, but please don't forget BBQ's and other similar devices are banned in the Peak, so picnic food or a mercy dash to the Hathersage chippy is the order of the day. Please message Mike the Meetsec to register your interest via meetsec@bowlineclimbingclub.co.uk!

IF THE WEATHER IS RUBBISH THERE WILL BE AN ALTERNATIVE so make sure we know you are coming so we can keep you posted :-) Featured Meet!! August Bank Holiday - The Bowderstone Hut in Borrowdale, Lake District: 4 spaces left at a cost of £25 per person for 3 nights accommodation. There is so much to do in this area, and just a brief sample is included below - don't delay because this meet is filling up fast! Email Mike as above to secure your space (and don't forget to transfer the cash to the club bank account). This could be the kind of fun you have on this meet:

Biking - Borrowdale Tour: Tucked away on the western side of Borrowdale is an old packhorse track. It descends towards Grange from part way down Honister Pass and nips behind the craggy ramparts of Castle Crag. It's a great descent on a mountain bike with a consistent gradient and the odd technical section for added interest.

Climbing - nearby classics include Corvus > Raven Crag (147m / Diff), Gillercomb Buttress > Gillercomb (195m / Severe), Troutdale Pinnacle > Black Crag (105m / Severe), Hedera Grooves > Lower Falcon Crag (42m / VS 4c), The Lost Boys > Steel Knotts (30m / HVS 5a), The Bludgeon > Shepherd’s crag (54m / E1 5b).

Walking - Catbells, Scafell, Bowfell Circular - or just a scenic trip to Watendlath Bridge - are all possible from this beautiful valley. There is also sailing, various types of paddling and swimming on Derwentwater, and a via ferrata just up the road at Honister. Also - Just a shout out for the Anniversary Dinner Weekend on 06th November. Please keep this weekend free, as we have lots of fun and adventures planned, including this year's Chairman's Walk and, rules permitting, our Winter Dinner.

Meets List (as above, message Mike for more info or to bag a place on any of these meets!) 26 June - Summer Picnic at Stanage after a day full of climbing, biking, walking - whatever takes your fancy! 13-15th August - Coniston Coppermines MTB meet (FULL) 24-26 August - DWS meet, Portland 27-30th August - Bank Holiday!!! We are booked into the Bowderstone Hut, with some fantastic climbing nearby. At £25 per head for the entire weekend this is a bargainous trip! 06 November - 70th Anniversary Chairman's Walk and Annual Dinner, Hartington 07 December - Bouldering Competition at the Climbing Station

Just a quick update this week!

Tuesdays are back! We are allowed to meet at the Station again now, so the regular club meet is back - and if you need an added incentive, this week we are heading for a beer afterwards at the Quorndon Fox in Quorn! We'll be at the Station from around 7pm, so get booked in on their website and we'll see you there!

Thursday - bouldering and rubbish! - This week we are back at Cademan (and the forecast is much better) - come along for a boulder. We will also be heading into Grace Dieu Woods (adjacent and identified by our own BMC local access rep as being in need of some TLC) for a quick crag clean up - bring your own thick gloves, we will have some litter pickers and bags for you to use :-)

This weekend - We are so excited about this bank holiday as there's lots to look forward to! There will be climbing on Saturday - keep an eye on the WhatsApp climbing group for a venue and if you haven't already signed up to the WhatsApp give me a shout with your number and I will add you in. Then on Sunday 30 May there will be the eagerly anticipated Chairman's Walk - there is a good crowd going and Mr Potter has some excellent adventures planned, so we look forward to seeing you there! Watch this space for details of where and when to meet and what the route is!!

Exciting Hut news!! - although we still can't have more than one household staying at the hut, guidance has been relaxed to say that we only need to leave 48 hours between bookings. This means that you can extend your stay if you wish, to arrive after midday on a Thursday, and depart before midday on the following Tuesday. Sadly, we still can't open for multiple occupancy or allow mid week stays as yet, but as soon as this becomes possible we will.

Finally, just a reminder about our Burbage meet on 6th June - come along and join us for a fun day that is open to all levels of experience and both members and non members. There will be bouldering and roped climbing and the meet is also family friendly so bring the kids along and get them started on the children's bouldering circuit at Burbage North! We'll have a beer afterwards as well.
