We were meant to be going to Devon for the August bank holiday but instead we are having a meet at our lovely club hut.
Book your place now by contacting the hut bookings secretary as normal - hutbookings@bowlineclimbingclub.co.uk.
The club hut is centrally heated throughout with a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, lounge area and 12 alpine style beds in a shared room. There is also space for a few tents outside or to kip in your van if that's your preference. You need to bring your own pillow and sleeping bag with you, plus whatever food/drinks you need for the weekend.
Given the distance to Snowdonia and the current fuel prices it makes sense to share lifts. Nearer the time if you are offering lifts or looking for a lift contact the club via WhatsApp (there is a dedicated group for this meet). You might also wish to club together for food/catering arrangements.
We are heading to Harpur Hill on Saturday 3rd August for sport climbing. All members welcome to join us at the crag from around 10am. Follow the discussion about this meet over on the 'Bowline Days Out' WhatsApp group in the Bowline Community.
On the 7th/8th September we are having a meet dedicated to multi-pitch climbing based at our club hut in North Wales. This weekend is particularly aimed at club members looking for an introduction to seconding multi-pitch climbs (although other club members are welcome to come along too, space at the hut permitting). There will be a number of experienced club members attending who are prepared to take out people who would like to gain experience seconding multi-pitch climbs.
To take part you'll need to have at least your own climbing shoes, harness and helmet and have had some experience seconding 'trad' climbs in a single pitch environment (i.e. you are capable of belaying a lead climbers and following them up the route removing the gear as you go). It's very likely that the routes we will climb will be in a mountain environment so you will also need suitable footwear for walking to/from the climb in the mountains plus a proper waterproof jacket/trousers and a 30 litre rucksack for carrying all your gear, drinks, lunch, etc (you will likely be climbing with the rucksack on). If you are not sure whether you have the right gear please contact Andy Potter for advice. We may also be able to lend some gear to you.
To attend this meet please first book your hut place and then contact Andy Potter to request a place for the multi-pitch introduction. Book your hut place by contacting the hut bookings secretary as normal - hutbookings@bowlineclimbingclub.co.uk.
Given the distance to Snowdonia and the current fuel prices it makes sense to share lifts. Nearer the time if you are offering lifts or looking for a lift contact Andy Potter and we'll try spread the word to those attending. You might also wish to club together for food/catering arrangements. Don't forget the usual stuff for staying at the hut (i.e. sleeping bag, pillow, etc).
