Lake District meet at the FRCC hut

We have a unique opportunity to spend the Whitsun bank holiday (23rd -> 26th May) at the Fell and Rock Climbing Club (FRCC) hut Brackenclose in Wasdale, Lake District. The FRCC club are trialling letting other climbing clubs use their huts and they've agreed to let us have 12 spaces in the hut for the bank holiday weekend. The FRCC's Brackenclose hut is perfectly located for classic Lakeland climbing and walking. The high crags and tops of the Scafells, Great Gable and Pillar are all within striking distance for both climbing and walking. When these are out of condition, Buckbarrow and Wallabarrow in Dunnerdale provide good sport for climbers and walkers can explore the lower tops and side valleys.

The hut is accessible by car and has typical facilities for a well appointed climbing club hut (running water, electricity, toilets, kitchen, fire, etc). Bedrooms have mattresses, pillows and pillow cases, you need to bring your own sleeping bag and additional pillows if you want more than the one provided. Wood if provided but you need to bring your own firelights/matches if you want to use the fire. You will need a lidded box to keep your food secure.

Once booked and paid Andy will send you exact instructions for finding and accessing the hut plus the guide/rules for staying there.

Given the distance to the Lake District and the current fuel prices it makes sense to share lifts. Nearer the time if you are offering lifts or looking for a lift contact the club via Whatsapp (there is a dedicated group for this meet). You might also wish to club together for food/catering arrangements.

Bowline AGM

This year’s Bowline Climbing Club AGM will take place on Wednesday 19th March at 19:30, via Zoom video call. We'd love to see as many Bowliners as possible there - the AGM is crucial to the running of your club, and helps define the next year of the club. 

Please make sure you read the proposed changes to next years membership fee's in the AGM agenda, as there are several changes suggested.
