About the Event
Our first camping trip of the year will be a return to Dartmoor. We had a lovely time staying at Cockingford Farm Campsite on our last visit to Dartmoor so that will be our base of operations for this trip. We are 'pencilled in' for up to 15 people to stay at the campsite but we do want to let the campsite know how many of us there will actually be so please RSVP to this event if you'll be coming (and email Andy Potter if you are bringing anyone with you). The campsite have kindly allowed us to not pay a deposit and are happy for us to cancel if the weather is dire (in which case we can head where the weather is better).
The campsite is basic but has toilets, showers, etc, fires are allowed provided they are off the ground (e.g. a fire pit or raised BBQ). The campsite has a friendly but quiet vibe, so no loud music and quiet after 10pm. The charges to be paid on arrival are £8 per adult per night, and £4 per child (5-16) per night. Dogs are welcome provided they are kept on a lead. Please note this is a 'family friendly' meet so there maybe club members with their children camping on site.
Given the distance to Dartmoor and the current fuel prices it makes sense to share lifts. Nearer the time if you are offering lifts or looking for a lift contact Andy Potter and we'll try spread the word to those attending. You might also wish to share tents and food/catering arrangements. You'll need to bring your own food and equipment for cooking (unless you plan to eat out, in which case make sure you book well in advance). Widecombe village is a half hour walk from the campsite and has 2 pubs, a cafe, and general store.
