About the Event
Directions: When you arrive at Coniston, Coppermines Valley starts between
the Black Bull Pub and the Coop. It’s then one mile uphill the to the hut.
There is quarter of a mile of tarmac, then three quarters of a mile on
gravel track. NOTE: The initial section of the track is ROUGH and STEEP.
This is about 10 meters before the cattle grid and 60/70 meters after, then
it’s not too bad. Most normal cars will be fine, i.e. if you have a low
suspension sports car you will struggle.
Bike Preparation: Make sure your mountain bike is in good working condition.
The ride Sat is predominantly off road and will deffo test yer bike. Check
your tires and tubes aren’t old or too worn and the brakes, suspension and
gears work. Bring a spare inner tube or two and a tool kit. It would be
wise to bring a small 1st aid kit too. Finally NO HELMET – NO RIDE!
Saturday Ride: bring water and food but we will stop for a cuppa. Depart
9.15am return for 4/5pm. It’s the same route as Bowline MTB 2019.
Sunday Ride: I’m thinking of going to Whinlatter Trail centre leaving 9.30am
to arrive 10.30am
Sleeping: Bring a sleeping bag and pillow.
Food: bring your own breakfast and grub for the daytime. Sat evening if its
dry we’ll have BBQ. Bring a disposable if poss, we have use of two little
ones at the hut.
