The BMC Midlands are summer meeting this year is in the western side of the Midlands area where we are going to take advantage of the long evenings and (hopefully) good weather to get out and enjoy some walking and get involved with the BMC's H2O campaign. The actual area meeting will be at The Old Orleton Inn, just off the M54 near Telford, join us for free buffet with tea/coffee from 8pm (other drinks available to purchase from the bar of course). The meeting will start at 8:30pm and we're aiming to be wrapped up by 10pm at the very latest.
As the The Old Orleton Inn is just a stones throw from The Wrekin we are going take in a walk around and over The Wrekin before the meeting. To do our bit for the BMC's H2O campaign we'll be aiming to collect any litter we see on our walk (rubbish bags will be provided). We'll be leaving the main Wrekin Car Park at 6:45pm sharp, aiming for a pleasant stroll to the summit and back in time to return to the The Old Orleton Inn for 8pm. The walk will be lead by our area chairman, Andy Potter, call 07796 220055 if you have any trouble finding us.
Even if you can't make the walk please do join us for the area meeting. As a membership organisation the BMC needs our members to be able to get involved and have their say. Area meetings are key to this, it’s where local action starts and ideas are discussed. This includes informing local climbers and walkers about regional and national issues, and providing a forum for local opinions on matters such as crag access, conservation issues, and national debates such as wind farms, land use and road building schemes.
