Bowline CC - Dream of white huts

E-mail sent by Andrew Potter, Sunday, 13th August 2017 @ 11:01pm

Hi All,

It's been back to back hut meets over the past two weekends. We had a super time on our Family Meet, where we had the Morrison family joining us for the first time. The weather was kind to us on Saturday so we went Scrambling around Lion Rock, followed by sport climbing in the slate quarries and then back to the hut for a lovely BBQ. Sunday the weather was not so favourable so we all turned our hand to helping with the hut improvements by preparing the base for the new shed. A big thanks to all the kids and grown ups who all mucked in to get it done despite the pouring rain!

I've not heard how this weekends hut meet went but if you were there I hope you had a great time. I did     see a picture of a sunny belay at the top of Dream of White Horse posted on Facebook so perhaps there was some adventures afoot (well done Derek).

Whilst we're on the subject of the hut, a page from the old website that I'd been meaning to copy across to our new website is now available. This page details various walks/runs that can be done from our club hut, check it out.

You won't be hearing from me for a while now as I'll be off in India for some trekking. My next update will likely be in mid September. So in the meantime don't forget all the club meets are on the website and we've had some brilliant times already this year so make sure you get involved and share in the fun. Tuesday bouldering will be running as always and I'm hoping Andy Railton and Brian Quinn will keep the Thursday climbing scene active as the evenings start to draw in.

Have a good few weeks!

Andy

Bowline CC - Head to the hut

E-mail sent by Andrew Potter, Monday, 31st July 2017 @ 7:16pm

Hi All,

We had a cracking days climbing on Saturday at Bamford Edge. Despite the wind plenty of top 50 and 3 star climbs were done at one of the lesser known gems of the Peak District, in my opinion. Some Bowliners were out at Stanage on the same day, and also I hear tales of adventure from the alps too. Next time any of you see Simon Perry, be sure to enquire about his experiences with abseiling back down alpine routes.

The next couple of weekends we are heading to our lovely club hut so why not join us? There is our Summer family meet this coming weekend with still a few spaces left (note these meets are open to all club members, not just those with children). And the following weekend it's our "Climbing all the things" meet where we'll be aiming to do, you guessed it, lots of climbing (and post climbing socialising of course)!

And finally just one more reminder to about the BMC undertaking an organisational review. This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard so please take a moment to fill in the anonymous survey - https://www.warpsurveys.com/bmc?type=020.

Enjoy your week everyone!

Bowline CC - Make your voice heard

E-mail sent by Andrew Potter, Tuesday, 25th July 2017 @ 11:03pm

Hey Bowliners,

Looks like the Alpine season is in full swing with various Bowliners out in the mountains and valleys having some pretty awesome adventures judging by the posts on various people Facebook pages. It's making me slightly envious but only a little bit as it's only a few weeks until I'll be off trekking in the Indian Himalayas. But before that I'll be looking to get lots of climbing in here while the sun shines and with that in mind I'll be at Markfield Quarry this Thursday and also hopefully out in the Peak District Saturday (watch out for an invite soon as the forecast is a bit clearer).

As I've mentioned before the BMC is undertaking an organisational review and the team heading the review are asking all members for their views. This is a great opportunity to make your voice heard so please take a moment to fill in this anonymous survey - https://www.warpsurveys.com/bmc?type=020.

Don't forget our next club hut weekend is coming up on the Weekend of 12th/13th August. Get your places booked before there all gone!

Have a great week!

Andy
